摘要:In recent years, the study of magnetic interactions in two-dimensional (2D) materials has gained significant interest due to their potential applications in spintronics and quantum computing. Two important types of magnetic interactions in 2D materials are the Kitaev interaction and interactions that can lead to magnetic anisotropies. The Kitaev interaction is a bond-dependent interaction defined on a honeycomb lattice and can potentially leads to Kitaev quantum spin liquid. The magnetic anisotropies break the spin rotational symmetry and can thus bypass the Mermin-Wagner theorem to realize long range magnetic orders in 2D materials, which are crucial in 2D magnets. Both Kitaev and the existence of magnetic anisotropies require spin-orbit coupling effects. In this talk, I will discuss our recent work on the microscopic origins of exchange interactions using strong-coupling perturbation theory. In the first part of my talk I will discuss the whether or not and how a Kitaev interaction exist in honeycomb cobaltates BaCo2(AsO4)2. In the second part, I will discuss in detail how the magnetic anisotropies in CrX3 system arise from microscopic point of view.
